Abstract

Osteoma of paranasal sinus is relatively rare, but is the most common one among the benign tumor of the paranasl sinuses. Osteoma of the maxillary sinus is an uncommon lesion and is most likely to occur in the frontal and ethmoid sinuses. Osteoma may occur at any age group but may occur most frequently in the third decade, it is frequently seen in young aged male. Osteoma of the maxillary sinus may be composed of either compact or cancellous bone and attached to the sinus wall by a pedicle in most previous reported lesions.

Recently, the authors had experienced a case of maxillary sinus osteoma associated with chronic paranasal sinusitis with polyps, which was successfully removed through intranasal ethmoidectomy and Calciwell-Luc’s operation.
