요약

성대 마비는 이비인후과 영역에서 비교적 빈번히 관찰 되는 징후로서 성대마비가 초래되면 후두의 고유기능인 발성, 호흡, 하기도 보호기능에 문제를 야기시키는데, 특 히 양측 성대 마비시에는 심각한 호흡장애를 유발시키 고, 편측 성대 마비시에는 주로 발성의 질에 문제가 있는 애성을 호소하게 된다.¹⁾ 성대 운동 장애의 용어를 세분화 하면, Vocal paralysis(성대 마비)는 성대 운동의 완전 마비, vocal paresis(성대 부전)는 성대 운동의 불완전 마 비로 나눌 수 있다.²⁾성대 마비나 성대 부전 환자를 치료 하는데 있어서 병태생리에 대한 이해는 질병에 대한 이 해 및 치료 계획, 예후 판정에 중요하다. 본문에서는 성 대 부전 및 마비의 병태생리를 개략적으로 기술하고자 한다.
