요약

목 이물감(globus sensation)은 약 2500년 전 Hip-pocrates에 의해 최초로 언급된 질환으로 간헐적 또는 지속적으로 목 안에서 느껴지는 무통성 느낌이다. 목 이물감은 일반적으로 증상이 장기간 지속되고, 치료하기 쉽지 않으며, 재발이 잦아 주변에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 질환이다. 환자는 보통 목안에 무엇인가 붙어 있는 듯한 느낌과 그것을 뱉어 내려 노력해도 나오지 않는 증상을 주소로 내원한다. 이러한 목 이물감은 음식물을 먹을 때는 증상이 호전되는 양상을 보이며, 연하곤란이나 연하통은 동반하지는 않는 특징이 있다.
