요약

MeSH는 medical subject headings의 약자로 미국 국립의학도서관(National Library of Medicine, NLM) 에서 책, 논문, 자료를 분류하기 위해 사용하는 계층화 된 통제 의학용어 분류집(hierarchically controlled)이 다. 2002년 기준으로 19,000개의 MeSH term이 있고, 정확하고 완벽하게 논문을 검색하기 위해 색인자(indexers) 들이 각 논문마다 10~12개의 MeSH term을 사 용하여 분류하고 있다. MeSH term은 매주 새로운 term 을 수록하며, 2003년 9월 18일을 기준으로 2002년 보다 1,251개의 MeSH term이 추가되었다.¹⁾ 이러한 MeSH term에 대해 간단하게 알아보고자 한다.
