요약

인공달팽이관 이식술이란 보청기를 착용하 여도 말소리를 알아들을 수 없을 정도로 심한 난청(보통 90dB이상)이 있는 경우에 청각신겨 의 전기자극을 통하여 이 자극을 뇌에서 소리 로 감지하게 하는 현대 첨단의학의 한 분야이 다. 따라서 과거에는 정상인과의 의사소통이 불가능하였던 심한 난청자들이 수화(手話)를 사용하지 않고도 말을 어느 정도 알아듣게 되어 이들의 재활에 밝은 전망을 주고 있다.
