요약

백반증(leukoplakia)은 말 그대로 백색의 반(patch)을 이야기하는데 쌓아올린 듯한 모양 혹은 돌출형의 모양 을 갖고 있거나 얇은 막과 같은 모양을 갖는 것이 대부 분이다. 이러한 병변은 점막에 대한 만성적인 자극의 결 과로 상피조직이나 결체조직이 과증식하면서 발생된다. 여자보다 남자에서 2배 가량 많은 것으로 알려져 있다. 백반증의 병리소견을 보면 과각화증에서 편평세포암종 까지 다양하다. 따라서 백반증이 있는 경우 반드시 조직 검사를 해야 하며 지름이 2.5 cm의 병변에 대해서는 병 소를 완전 절제하여 조직검사를 보내고 이보다 큰 병변 인 경우에는 병변의 위치와 크기에 따라 광범위한 점막 스트리핑(stripping)과 이식이 필요할 수 있다.
