ABSTRACT

Cholesterol granuloma is thought to be the result of the blocked ventilation of the mastoid air cells. And then mucosal hemarrhage and blood extravasation are followed. Catabolism and foreign body reaction leads to cholesterol granuloma and cholesterol granuloma cyst formation. They are commonly formed in any portion of the air cells in temporal bone and middle ear. However, the huge cholesterol granuloma cyst has been rarely reported. We experienced a case of huge cholesterol granuloma cyst that is associated with the protrusion to external auditory canal and the adhesion with sigmoid sinus wall in 36-year-old male, and report this case with review of literaturses.
