ABSTRACT

In patients with a blow to the head or a fall into the head, contre-coup injury occurred in the contralateral side of impact with temporal bone fracture. The involved area of the temporal bone fracture was confirmed with computerized tomography(CT), and the contre-coup injury was also recognized with CT or magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). Contre-coup lesions appeared with the patterns of meningeal edema in middle cranial fossa, subdural hematoma in the temporo-parietal area, cerebral hemorrhagic contusion in anterior cranial fossa. It could be concluded that MRI is very useful in the detection of the intracranial lesions unrecognizable in CT, and especially in the temporal bone fracture patients complaining of headache.
