ABSTRACT
The estimated overall incidence of chordoma is around 1% of all malignant bone tumors. Approximately 35% arise in the clivus, 15% in the vertebrae, and the remainder in the sacral region. Primary chordoma is extremely rare in the paranasal sinuses, nasal cavity, and nasopharynx. Despite their slow evolution, at least 5% and perhaps as many as 43% of chordoma metastasize. Treatument is surgical removal followed by radiation therapy.
Recently, the authors experienced a case of chordoma in the sphenoid sinus and sellar area which was originated from the clivus treated by transseptal approach and radiotherapy.
