ABSTRACT

Nasal abscesses are uncommon and most frequently develops in the nasal septal space. Nasal tip abscess is rarely encountered and there have been no well-documented reports of it. Nasal abscesses occur most commonly after minor nasal trauma. As a result of nasal abscess, lethal complications such as cavernous sinus thrombophlebitis, meningitis, intracranial abscess, and sepsis may occur. We experienced a rare case of nasal tip abscess caused by Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) in a immunocompromised patient with history of long-term use of corticosteroids. Therefore, we present this case with a brief review of the literature. (J Clinical Otolaryngol 2016;27:344-348)
