ABSTRACT

The squamous cell papilloma is common in nose, nasopharynx, pharynx, larynx and tracheobronchial trees. However, the squamous cell papilloma originated from the external auditory canal is rare. The squamous cell papilloma in the external auditory canal has known to have a viral etiology, especially human papilloma virus. The papilloma is contagious easily to the neighbor tissues. It is apt to be recurred too. The treatment of choice in the squamous cell papilloma of the external ear canal is excision. The regular follow-up is needed because of the recurrence or the malignant transformation. We report a case of squamous cell papilloma confined to the external auditory canal.
