ABSTRACT

Hypoglossal nerve injury is a recognized but rare complication of laryngomicrosurgery. We have recently encountered a case of hypoglossal nerve palsy as a complication laryngomicrosurgery. We would like to report a case of unilateral hypoglossal nerve paralysis following laryngomicrosurgery and discuss theory concerning the pathophysiological mechanisms of nerve damage as described in the literature.
